Recently Lampasas ISD broke ground on a $9 million elementary school that can hold about 650 students. The new Taylor Creek Elementary School will be located on Big Divide road on a site that inside Lampasas county and within the Copperas Cove city limits. Lampasas county voters, especially Kempner voters, approved the school project as part of a larger $48.9 million bond package. The benefit for those children who live inside the east side of Lampasas county is that this after this school opens they won’t have to be transported 15 miles west into the city of Lampasas to go to school. The school will be about 65,000 square feet and will include 26 classrooms, two computer labs, a fine arts facility, library, and a gym. Construction should start in June and the new school should be open for the 2009-2010 school year.
